Her Whisper Is The Lucifer

SHINee recently made their comeback with their 2nd full album, Lucifer. SHINee are a contemporary band so I thought it would be interesting to see their concepts. I think the one that strikes me the most is Key's new concept. With his head partially shaved he looks as if he has a bald patch when it's actually just bleached white blonde. Jonghyun's look never changes much and he fits this new concept well even if he looks somewhat like a hedgehog. Minho is the other member who has had a big change for this comeback, cutting all his beautifully long hair off so that he resembles Micky Yoochun more and from some angles Shim Changmin. Taemin seems to have taken over Minho's role of having long hair but I think it works well. He no longer looks like the baby of the group like he used to, especially when they first debuted in 2008.
Onew has certainly taken a change but not nearly as drastic as Key or Minho. He opted for the eyeliner look which I think suits him pretty well although, his haircut leave a fair bit to be desired.

Taemin rocks it out in a sleeveless leather jacket with his long hair, giving off a much differe
nt vibe than what he usually does. There is no sign of the cute Maknae (Youngest member) that we usually see, instead he is full of confidence and shows his fans a whole new side. Much different to when he was younger and the whole of SHINee cross dressed for a sketch in a variety show.

This is the style that I think suits Jonghyun the best. He quite often goes for the punkish look when on variety shows and he pulls it off well. For their new concept Jonghyun pulls off an oddly cut leather jacket. Whilst it is pretty normal in the front the back is a whole other matter with the coat stopping before it reaches the middle of his back.

As a contemporary band SHINee goes for concepts that have not yet been attempted by other boy bands and I think I can safely say that no other male idol has ever made such a drastic change

Head on over to SM Entertainment's YouTube channel to see these guys in action.

A look at the other members will come later.

Light Art

Ben Matthews from Guildford, Surrey uses torches to create these amazing pictures. I don't quite understand how they're made but I know I would certainly love to have a go if I can find out <3

Modern Twist

Again, just browsing photobucket.com when I found this modern twist on what I believe to be Russian Dolls?
They''re absolutely amazing but because it's from photobucket I have no idea where they are from which is a real shame.

Chalk Art

I came across several pictures like this whilst browsing photobucket.com
The images are made from chalk on ordinary pavements but they look almost real at first glance. I know I had to do a few double checks when looking at these.

Lego

Quick post before I leave for the evening.

I was just looking around thereifixedit.com when i found something quite interesting.

There are several of installations if that were was what you were to call them in various cities across the world. This particular picture is from Israel. A wall with holes in has been taken and the holes filled with lego bricks.

This is actually quite interesting.

Wyld's Globe

I was watching QI the other day, one of the new G Series and Wyld's Globe was shown. It was created by James Wyld who was a well known geographer and also a member of parliament.
The globe was viewed from the inside on four platforms.

'The Globe was built at the time of the Great Exhibition. Inside a purpose-built building was a giant globe, 60 feet (18 m) in diameter. The globe was hollow and contained a staircase and elevated platforms which members of the public could climb in order to view the continents and seas, complete with modeled mountain ridges and rivers all to scale.' - Wikipedia.

I think this was amazing but it wasn't up for long, it was put up in 1851 and taken down in 1887. I would have really liked to have been able to see this person most definitely.

Cassie's Project

My thoughts for Cassie's project have changed completely.

I have decided on an idea and actually quite like this.
I've been looking at traditional Japanese Kokeshi dolls which are basically what these new
Momiji dolls are based on.

You can get momiji graphics on just about anything these days including t-shirts and stationary. Hell, I've even seen a Hello Kitty momiji keyring.

So for this project I originally thought about making a room full of Kokeshi ranging from traditional to modern and contemporary.
After a talk with Cassie the title of my project is something along the lines of 'How can I redesign traditional dolls for a contemporary market?'
So I'll look at dolls like soapstone dolls i think they're called, traditional Inuit dolls, Babushka (Russian Dolls) etc.

So, we'll see how it goes <3

Artists for my Fine Art Project.

For this fine art project I looked at a variety of techniques and then artists, some contemporary some not.
I looked at various artists including Turner, Andy Warhol, Ed McCarthy, iLia Anossov and Thomas Kinkade

For this project I have taken inspiration from Andy Warhol's use of multiple images.
I have taken 3 planks of decking measuring 80cm long and 14 cm wide.
I split these into fifteen 14cm x 14cm squares and plan to paint on the wood.
The theme I am going to use for this project is reflection. For this I have taken eyes (which are reflective), and plan to produce fifteen squares, each with an eye on, each differing slightly from the last in various styles including pointillism and sgraffito. I think that to present it I will join them all together to create one big board of eyes, (made from decking).
